So I put on some music to chill by today and sat back with a book. About 15 minutes later, I realize there is no sound anymore. Huh? I checked the stereo and the CD is still playing, but the volume is at zero. Shrugging it off, I turned the volume back up again, but didn't get as far as the sofa before it slowly faded out. Ok, so something's going on - I go back to the stereo and turn it back up. This time I wait and watch. Sure enough, it turns itself down again - I can see the volume numbers decreasing slowly. I sit down in front of the thing, cursing under my breath, and try turning it off and back on again - it seems okay now; chalk it up to a fluke. No sooner do I get up and start to walk back to the sofa when, sure enough, the damn thing slowly fades out again! Now I'm really starting to worry - I try everything, switching channels, speakers, looking through the menus - with the same results: it will work okay for a little bit, but as soon as I think its okay and walk away it fades out, like the thing is intentionally messing with me. I even looked through the owner's manual for some setting I never knew about, maybe under "mindfuck" or something.
Well, it's now much later and (after being deprived of music all day) I decided to try it again - maybe it has had a chance to "cool off". The same thing happens, and it suddenly dawned on me what the problem might be...

In retrospect it seems obvious, but still odd since it never happened before. I hardly ever use the remote for the stereo, so it winds up on the bottom of the stack of remotes. Apparently I set something on top just wrong so that it was leaning on the volume down button. What clued me in was that the TV remote wasn't working right either (even after changing the batteries) - I was beginning to formulate a theory involving the effect of magnetic fields on infrared light when it hit me - duh :)

I guess that during a failed lab experiment gamma rays transformed an ordinary mouse into a flying space banana which in turn used a pickle and a cum soaked rag to build a radio satellite that was going to be used to contact the mothership however the transmission was off by a few degrees and instead beamed into a space wormhole that transferred the beam into a black hole at a frequency that at a subatomic level passed into another dimesion where ants were the size of mountains and mountains the size of ants, back was silver and pink was the new green. In this mystical world the transmission was recieved into the brain of a sungalite which evolved into a overlord who when urinating ripped the space time continum and caused your sterio remote to statically attract the other remotes on top of it.
It also made Elvis disapear into a candian lady who gave birth to Lord Kahuna. lolz0r!!!
