I'm up late, a little medicated, and suddenly started thinking about Calivin and Hobbes.
I don't know about some of the older swarmers, but Calvin and Hobbes has had a very deep effect to many many people in my generation. I don't even know how to explain how much Calivin and Hobbes means to me. The strip is perfect. Zen-like meditations recanted from the mouth of a decididly spazzy kid and his pet tiger, who was ambiguously alive or stuffed animal...
The strip was genuine, and I don't know how to describe it better. It gave subtle intellectual and spiritual truths through two unlikely vessels.
I really want to find Bill Watterson's adress and tell him to start writing again. Maybe not Calvin and Hobbes-which seems perfect and finished-but to simply work in his craft in a world that seems desperate for his kind of commentary and humor.
Ok sleep now.

For a man with output like Calvin and Hobbes to just give up, there must be a good reason.
But try anyway.

as i understand it, watterson gave up on newspaper comics because they were being shrunk to a point where he might as well have been drawing stick figures. i agree with him, it sucks. the only strip that seems to still make an effort at actual artwork anymore is non-sequitur, and sometimes get fuzzy.
the best way to enjoy calvin & hobbes is in those oversized anthologies. with a pb&j sammitch and a frog in yr pocket.

Im sure he will just for you. I really liked the stip tooo, kinda creepy how infatuated you are with it. The feelings you got when you read that comic years ago will never return, drugs are your only hope now.
Besides, Gary Larson's the Far Side was bettar.

That's not true.
Besides, Gary Larson's the Far Side was bettar.
That almost is.

"The feelings you got when you read that comic years ago will never return"
I ge the same feeling every time I read them. And I'm not conceited enough to think he's gonna come out of retirement for ME, I just feel the need to make the gesture because I value his work and feel like he had more ideas to communicate than he did.

your thoughts regarding his art is meaningless. only his thoughts are valid.

I don't consider ghost an "older swarmer" but maybe because I'm only a RV summer vacation behind him. I thought the median age around here was 30.
I enjoyed Calvin and Hobbes but was never as moved by it as the males I knew. I didn't grow up with a little brother and I was never a little boy so I think a lot of the antics were lost on me.
I was more partial to Bloom County.
"Ack!" - Bill the Cat (still priceless)

I like them, and apparently I'm 90 years younger than every single one of you. I like them for the following:
The strip was genuine, and I don't know how to describe it better. It gave subtle intellectual and spiritual truths through two unlikely vessels.
Yep. Nice description, Captain Wordsmith.

This is the kind of stuff that puts the funny in funny papers. Calvin and Hobbes has always and still held a special place for me. It takes me back to a mischievous childhood that I rarely experienced and barely recall.
The guy is a genius, I was probably 30 when he stopped producing and was deeply saddened by the news, almost like when I heard Lennon or SRV died.
The snowman stuff is still my favorite.

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
