K, so I'm getting ready to make an online credit card payment, as I have many times before. As usual, I go to the Fleet credit card website. But this time, I am greeted by this page:

My spidey-sense tells me something's amiss here, but I click ahead, curious to see where this will go:

Now this doesn't look right, but I figure what the hell. Let's go a little farther, eh? So I click on "make a payment" and get this:

Whoa! Stop right there! You want my account number and SSN? I think not. Have I been spoofed or what?

The outage page looks odd, as does the page that gets served up when you hit the domain.
I know Fleet is overhauling the online banking interface (thought that was July 2X, though...) so it could be part of a normal upgrade procedure.

I think the fact that they use Asians and Blacks in there advertisements says it all.

While I'll agree that it looks strange, a little digging leads me to believe it's legit. The IP address for Emergecard is registered to CompuCredit. Here is the Hoover's info on them.
Having said all that, I think you should still call them just to be sure. When it comes to shit like this, I'm comfortable leaving absolutely NOTHING to chance.
Good luck.

yeah i'm always suspicious about handing out my ssn. i'm even weary about doing so when applying for a job. the bank/cc/etc company shouldn't need it again, they probably got it when you opened the account. if nothing else, this is just screaming to be hacked, just for that info.

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
