ANWAR being drilled is rather stunning. I never thought they'd actually succeed in getting that passed. From what I've read about it, it's not going to solve very many of the current oil/energy problems.

I knew it would happen and Alaskans have been pushing it for years. Gotta keep the Yearly dividend checks flowing. Interestingly or not, I never applied for the dividend when I lived there. I didn't want oil money then. I'm not so sure i'd be as idealistic now.

weird thing about the ANWAR fiasco is that they are still pumping the SUNFISH reserve, in Cook Inlet (you can see the platforms from Anchorage and Kenai) which is supposed to have 10 times the amount of crude as Anwar. The Arctic Reserve was going to be "saved for an emergency".

ANWAR sucks. Fuck this neocon bullshit. From what I read it aint gonna do jack shit. The Japanese are going to buy all of it off, according to my poli sci professor. And if every we have had an energy "emergency" I suppose passing peak production and running out of oil would count.

ANWR isn't being drilled yet. All that happened was that an effort to remove it from the senate's budget bill (where it shouldn't be anyway) was defeated 51-49, so it remains part of the bill. The weird thing is that it's in the senate's budget bill, but not the house's. The house is usually where all the wacky shit gets introduced again and again. Anyway, 51 votes is miles away from the 60 they'll need to get the budget bill passed with ANWR in it. Also anyway, the whole pack of barking pigs should be blasted into the sea with a firehose full of industrial drain cleaner, along with the press, who will continue to blather on about bloggers and scott peterson while sharks and lobsters feast on their poisonous guts and then they'll all decompose into a foul black goo that we can dredge up and use to fuel dune buggies and jet packs and tiny little shriner cars for our FUKING VICTORY PARADE AND ALSO A ROCKETSHIP TO VALHALLA!
