Hey friends
So. I was wondering about your taste in musical instruments. Do you play anything or are you musically retarded? I played trombone school and still play in college bands and stuff, my primary love being Jazz and classical when it comes to brass. I fuck around a lot with guitar and sound pretty decent, but anyone who is a real guitarist will tell you I can play fast and solo by ear and stuff, but don't know anything about chord structure, progression, anything. I can play bass a little. I play a lot on piano but am loath to learn new songs or keys and so I just kind of bang out a lot of stuff, but am pretty decent.
So I don't hang a lot around the swarm anymore, but when I did I picked up that a lot of you guys play guitar.
What I want to know from you is: 1) Are you a musician and what is your instrument of choice, 2) Who is your favorite performer on that instrument.
I would say that a trombone is my instrument of choice with guitar being a close second. Frank Rossolino of the Stan Kenton band would probably be my greatest influence for t-bone.For guitar I think I would have to give it to David Gilmour with a whole lot of other guitarists in the running.
Yourself?

I hear that Hevva is quite adept at playing the pink oboe.

I'm not realy a musician (not of any skill anyway) I've played in a couple of bands that consisted of friends and played the songs I learned to an acceptable standard. My instrument of choice tho' is the good ol' 4 string bass I dont know who my most respected artist is as there are so many fantastic bass players out there and I'm loath to simply shout Jaco P, or Flea as - although they were/are very good - I'm not sure they are the best players I have heard. Hmm, this will warrent some research.

i started playing the cello about a year and a half ago. the drag is i have to travel a lot for work and i can't haul the mf around. i may get rid of it and try a violin or viola....
bowed strings are some of the most haunting sounds...

Agreed!
I played the violin for about 10 years until I was booted from my Dad's house and left my violin there (the fuker probably sold it for crack).
I miss playing it, but it's an expensive instrument (for a good one).
I've tried 100s of times to play the guitar, acoustic and electric, but can never seem to get over that hump of, "I know a few cords and can play 'On Top of Old Smokey'!!"
So there it sits, collecting dusting...I have no discipline!!

Trombone was ruined for me with Number One's repeated gay attempts to play it at inappropriate times during ST:TNG.
I played alto sax until I had to pawn it to pay the phone bill. I do not like jazz but swing is so fun to play. I love the blues and should have picked up the barritone or even the tenor sax but they were too cumbersome.

cant ever go wrong with a guitar. ever.
especially a telecaster or les paul
id have to say Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of the Mars Volta and At The Drive-In is the greatest and most inspirational guitarist ive ever come across. hes even got his own solo album

I took piano lessons for years... no eye hand coordination. (shrug) I would memorize the music then play by looking at the keys. The music teacher screamed, I hated it and her and so my piano lessons are now a memory of pain and torture.

I suppose I can post a link to a song I put up today. If it's not clickable, too damn bad, it's worth it anyhow. I recorded this on my home studio, which consists of me, my amp, a Digitech and my Macintosh.

I grew up playing music, played in some rather serious bands and played gigs all over New England for years until I met the wife - then quite and raised a fam. I am a guitar player/teacher and to me, any guitar will do the job. It's a tool for an artist. A broken red pencil can draw just as good as a full blue pencil. But, I preferr an Ibanez. I can also play the piano quite well.
My favorite guitarist would be John Petrucci and Steve Via.

| Sexual Asspussy | This is awesome.
This is the first pornsite I've found in years that I'd actually advertise to swarmers. When you first load it up, it looks just like every crappy scam site out there, except that it's real. It's huge, it's updated constantly, there's no spam, no popups, and no bullshit -- and it's completely free. When you sign up through that link above and respond to the confirmation email, I make a bit of loose change.
See what other swarmers have to say about it. People love this place, so I feel fine about sending you there and am confident you will enjoy boners.
