Put your good/bad service stories here.
I have spent today fitting new glow plugs and injectors to my old 60 series Toyota Landcruiser. When it came time to prime the fuel system the manual primer pump didn't work. This was at 5:25 this evening.
Just on the off chance, I rang the nearest Toyota dealer to see if they had one. I didn't really expect the phone to be answered, but it was. The guy who answered went and checked the parts store, and they had one in stock. "Are you going to come in and get it?' he asks. I explain that I am a good hour away from his location and am told "No worries, I'll wait for you"
After I pick my bottom jaw up off the floor and re-attach it, I tell him I will be there as soon as I can, and get the girlfriends Suzuki Vitara to do some low-level flying.
Not only was he waiting, he dropped the odd forty cents off the $100.40 price and sent me on my way. I left his dealership at 6:20 on a Friday night, a very happy man.

This is a great idea, and I'm totally envious of your Toyota btw.

I guess my most of my stories are about absolutely terrible waitstaff, it would seem that "service" is something you only see rarely nowadays in that industry unless you go upscale.
But I was really impressed with Wolskis in Milwaukee, this place was great!
You can read about the place here:...
The bartender was awesome, cracking jokes, gave us a free pitcher when he was changing kegs, told us all about the history if the bar, cracked jokes, made fun of Stool's pedo facial hair, etc.
He gave us all a stack of stickers/posters/t-shirt when they found out we were visiting, and told us all about his city, where else to drink/eat/dance in jorts.
Best meep bar I've been to in years.

Years ago, I bought a used Ford mini-van. I knew going in that it needed a wheel alignment and a minor tune-up. I saw an ad in the paper that one of the local dealerships had a sale on wheel alignments and as a bonus it was a drive in, no appointment service with evening hours. I headed over the next evening to get the work done. The waiting room had a full view of the service bays so you get to see the work in progress. I watched as one mechanic looked at the front end while the van was on the hoist and then another and another and then they're calling the service manager to come out to the bay to consult on my van. The manager comes back and summons me to the counter and starts off by telling me that they have great financing for big repair bills. He then proceeds to tell me that I need to replace the tie rod ends, the ball joints and the front suspension. I recall that the estimate was something like $4000 when it was all said and done. I thanked him for the estimate and took my vehicle home. After some calling around the next day I found out that I could get the work done quite a bit cheaper at local garage. I dropped the van off with directions to go ahead and do all of the work that the dealership had said needed to be done. A few hours later I got a call from one of the mechanics asking me who told me that I need all of these parts changed. He went on to say that there was some wear on everything but it was all with in tolerances maybe we should change one of the tie rod ends and do an alignment. These guys could have soaked me and I wouldn't have had a clue. Since then, I take all of my vehicles there and recommend them everyone who asks.

As a follow-up to my story, I have sent a letter to Toyota's regional office about these guys. I hope they get some sort of recognition from Head Office for this.

We've had crappy interweb for years. I just called & meeped, and they doubled the speed for half the price for a year.
Go figure.
I am pleased.
