While I realize sincerity is normally frowned upon in the Swarm, I'm going to buck that trend one last tome to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this community over the years. Of all the qualities Linkswarm has embodied, there's been a particular one that I've cherished above all others: never knowing quite what was around the intellectual corner in the links, and yet finding bountiful characteristic regularity in the communal feel of threads and journals.

I'll always have my Linkswarm mug. Hmmmm. I have always enjoyed this place. Except for qwerty. Hated that meepnuts.

I found this place by accident. I design t-shirts for a so-called living, and one day I was searching for vector something-or-other and one of the results was something about a vector nuke PHP or something that Vas had "hacked the fuk out of". Since then, it's been the first place I log into every day, to get my news and laughs for the morning. You guys' responses to funny news, and the way you would meep-rape the trolls kept me coming back.
Although I'm 99.999% lurker, this was the only place I posted at when a very close friend was shot to death right in front of me, at work. I've never met another Swarmer, except Dagwood, who worked with me for a little while until he got all rapey and lost his job. But I've almost felt like I knew some of you, just seeing your posts and laughing about them. I always wanted to come to a BBP, but never had the funds or time. I'll miss you meepgots.

I joined this place in 2004 and spent the majority of my 9-5 here ridiculing people that I liked and drawing meep for everyone, including the majority of LS 2.0. I used to love the meep out of this place, but I couldn't find the hilarity in life while going through a nasty divorce so I stopped coming here looking for it. Even though I check this place on a fairly regular basis, but never post, I'm going to miss being a part of something vile and terrible.

Off to Reddit I go.

Ugh, reddit, really?

Not to sound like a sad-sack, but this was the only place I had a voice on the web. I don't bother with facebook and I don't really post anywhere else either. IRL, I don't really make an effort to go out and meet people, so I only have 10-15 people I'd call friends (rather then co-workers or acquaintances).

This place had its own little something. Maybe it was the "small town" feel? It was easy to become involved it what went on around here (even if a peep was 95% lurker).

Iunno...

I'll miss LS, but its not like this is really a huge surprise. Its been feeling down-hill for a while, right? Things have been slowing down; people have been leaving.

I'm getting more depressed the more I think about this.

Finally this gutter of the internet with its bi-polar manic depressive bunch of smeep is being shut down!!!! No, seriously, I'll miss Linkswarm, but it is time for it to commit Seppuku just like Wotak did a while back. Since 2.0 started meep has been going down hill; the regulars have disappeared and it isn't fun anymore.

One thing I did love about LS was the freedom of speech it provided. I went to law school and now practice law, when I was a 2L there was a conversation thread Das Racis, it had some pretty meeping vile racist speech in it, but I used the entire post to support the value of racist speech vis-a-vis the First Amendment. Well, that ended up catapulting me into a position of being an "expert" on the First Amendment, which of course is completely meeping useless except in academia. So I guess I might the only person to have a IRL benefit from being here... Take that bi-polar. manic depressive, paranoid mother meepers!! I'll meet you all in meep at Arzon's block party!

I haven't been around much in a long time myself. Very off and on... I will say I always expected this place to be around. It's always been like coming home. Have found many great hard to find items here... Made some good friends here... most of the folk that have been rockin the joint over the past year or so... well... sorry I never got to know any of you meepers.

We have a movie I had planned to show you guys, we're releasing later in the year (It won't be done... It won't be good... but by God it needs some kinda audience!) Also if you are interested at all you can hear me tell random, stories and life tales with another meepo who can name himself if so desired on a PodCast we've been running for the past 3 months or so... I think maybe there was fear of ridicule, so as not to post here before... but meep it... Poke fun at us! Be guests on our show someday!
