Linkswarm's West Coast Drunken Meandering, (Mild)Debauchery & Family Barbecue Aug 12, 13 & 14th
Time to pull our collective meep out of our Wal-Mart desk chairs and get a little meepin' SUNLIGHT.
I've got the food and campsite covered at the beautiful Montana De Oro in San Luis Obispo.
Tents and campers are welcome. There are restrooms, but no showers.
Hotels are available nearby for those delicate souls who wanna be meep about it.
Let's do this.

@BeachGoat
It is too late in the year for my son and me as school starts for him aug 10. I have planned a different father and son camping trip to start in a couple of weeks. I wish it was possible to meet and party with my fellow degenerates. Maybe next year we can get together somewhere in mid-America.

Got two tents, four sleeping bags (and pads), two chairs and two 8X10 tarps from Wal-Mart.
Flimsy and cheap. -Perfect for stumbling into and puking in.
Also thinking about picking up a good stout fishing rod and some frozen squid...

At this point I am about hopeless. I've got an old friend I bumped into after 11 years that says she'll drive me, but unless she's changed (and people DO NOT change) I think she's talking out her meep. So I'll probably just shed a tear, send a bottle, and hook up with a drunken phone call. This makes me immeasurably sad but there's not a whole lot that can be done about it. Between the back and the ticker thumbing is out and I live in the very NW corner, so nobody will be passing even close by. I know how disappointed you all must be but buck up and take it like man, I'll do all the crying for you.

Dude...Amtrak! Less than a hundred, round trip to San Luis Obispo, you arrive at around 3pm, and one of us can grab you there. Check into it. The train is just meepin', and you can bring a bottle, and a couple of sodas on board. Plus it's entertaining to make fun of the other passengers. New stories for arrival.

I'm worried.
The ticket reads:"60-69 lbs" and that may mean the pig'll be too big to fit my smoker.
(The guy at the market said he couldn't order a pig under 60 lbs. It's a law against suckling pigs or something.)
My grill measures 37"x24"x13"
I plan on tucking the legs in, and I THINK it'll fit, but if the thing comes in overweight we'll have to either cut the head off or dig a pit...
meep, I might have to pull an all-nighter and weld some 4" flat strap in on both sides to add a few more inches into the
smoker.
What are the dimensions on a 65(ish) pound pig?

No.
No no no no meepING NO.
The pig is what sets the theme for this whole shindig.
No way can I let this happen.
I'll measure the pig as soon as it comes in. If it's too big I'll devide it up and pass it around to the family and get another, or widen the frigging barbeque.
Our pig will have a head, I SWEAR THIS.

Today was a nice 75 in the afternoon. Kind of expect fog in the morning, a nice mid day, and some breeze in the afternoon.
Bring a coat, and shorts.
As far as food, Rosie is making a vat of homemade baked beans, and I'm doing a couple of tri-tips worth of kabobs. May whip up other things, but that's as far as I have planned.
I have a "Camp Commode" for the wimmin folk, if you would be so kind as to bring an extra tent for them. It is the least we can do for dragging the tender young & rapidly aging blossoms of glory that grace our lives. Us men folk can use the Government Facilities.
Fishing is mostly greening sea trout, cabazon, red cod/rock cod, and Grassy.

There's "washing up" type water, but bring drinking water. Also, you can never have too many flashlights. The coons there are bold little buggers, and there are plenty of things that go bump in the night (badgers, foxes, etc). A good insect goo for ticks is a good call, too, along with some Fel's Naptha Soap for any accidental poison oak exposure. Sure as sugar, somebody will get into it.
This is going to be fun.

I think after we drag these wimmen folk out into the tick & poison oak infested wilderness to listen to us get drunk and tell tall tales, the very least we can provide is a place for them to be half-way comfortable doing their "Womanly meep" other than an outhouse. From what I gather we have teens and middle-aged housewives coming, neither of which are equipped to deal with icky things. Bless you for bringing the comforts of life to the cherished ones.
