How to filter stuff out of the xray box?
So, it seems the xraybox would be nicer if one had the option to throttle some parts of it -- e.g., turn off shouts, or only display comments. Maybe a link at the bottom that would take you to a view with just your selected stuff.
What kinds of filter are we interested in?
Chiefly, not having a pure Talking meep page is kinda driving me nuts, and the very easiest thing to do would be mark the shouts as 'human-driven' and mark everything else as 'system-driven' and let you choose to see one or both.
That is, it would be pretty easy (and not time-consuming) for me to allow you the following choices for controlling what the xraybox displays...
A: Just shouts (Pretend to be the old shoutbox)

There are other ways we could slice this -- .e.g, show only thing comments, no shouts, no new queue links, no achievements, etc -- but it gets progressively more annoying to build and difficult to make user interface for, and I want to get the most bang for buck here.
So is the A/B/C setup I described above pretty much good for now?

OK, so the ABC option has some traction and is possibly the smartest mole head to whack with my whackamole hammer.
So I'm thinking by default, it'll show C -- everything. There'll be two links at the bottom, Hide Shouts and Hide Updates. They'll do the obvious and store your choice in a cookie so it'll be preserved across pageloads.
On the Xray Page, when it's pageable, these options will affect what you see as you page back through time.

I'd personally like the option to turn off specific feeds; mostly the alpha queue, since I noticed that it's a good way to see spam links in the meepy xray box.

Unfortunately, that's the exact opposite end of the complexity scale from ABC. Differentiate every type of feed, then meep up some sort of interface that non-meeptily exposed each option.
