Steel Goes To Washington DC
WOOOOO Can't wait... I am taking extra time in the city after meetings... Anyone have thoughts on what I deffinately shouldn't miss?
I plan to try to walk to a few major monuments and figure the Aerospace portion of the Smithsonian would be the coolest portion to hit...
Someone was telling me there was a Spy museum... something tugs at my soul and is telling me that real life spies probably won't be as interesting as I think...

Let the baby roast rest for an hour, then have your guests help pull the meat. Everyone will have fond memories of the event to cherish FOREVER!

Just remember to give yourself plenty of time for cooking (a field-dressed baby can weigh upwards of 30 lbs and take a FULL DAY to cook!)

Do you keep them penned up like veal and infuse them with formula or mother's milk? I hear formula fed babies have a medicinal taste. I don't want that for the party.... I would be a terrible host.

I've been there twice now.
First advice: Just take a walkabout. I would walk as far in a direction as I felt comfortable (the city gets really dicy really quick) and then take the Metro (subway or bus line) until I felt comfortable again.
Go to a bar called Madam's Organ in Adams Morgan if you're looking for a cool place to have a drink and listen to music. The wife and I heard a Grammy Award-winning fiddle player doing a one-off show there. It's a great hole-in-the-wall with history.
Know the Subway doesn't match with bar hours though. Make sure to bring cab fare if you plan to stay out late.
All of the Smithsonian museums are worth the time. Aerospace is the coolest, but make it a point to try to hit as many as you can. Natural History, Spy and the Native American are very much worth the time. The Holocaust Museum, though, will change you as a Human Being (trust that.)
If you can swing a Capitol tour, DO THAT. Seriously. Also, the White House tour is meep too (It's not as big as I had thought).
Go for the seafood and stay around for the Yuengling on tap (great out of the spigot, kinda meep in a bottle).
I love the city. Once our daughter is old enough for the trip, we plan to go back (the wife works in a field that allows/requires travels there).
I envy you right now. There is a lot of fun to be had and tons of history to learn. Have a great trip!

Also know that I had to "bow-up" on a man and tell him to get away when he got in my face about a requested handout. That meep is kinda pervasive and a little more aggressive the farther you move out from the Capitol area.

LOL :) I'm already back... Hence photo album... I had an amazing time! I was amazed by the number of joggers who didn't care about the cold... Everyone was really nice, even when I got in a few sketchy situations...
I had this one dude walk up to me and start telling me directions and gave me a map...I apologized for not having a few bucks to give him... cause he looked like a hobo who gave out maps for dollars...
He looked offended and was like, hey thats not needed, I'm a government volunteer :) haha
The Holocaust museum... was something else... I love the trip but really felt like a meep heel walking around all the monuments to lost lives.
