Terry Reid is one of Rock's most undertold stories. In the late 60's and early 70's, he was offered a position in Led Zeppelin BEFORE Robert Plant and after that he was offered to sing for Deep Purple ahead of Ian Gillan and turned them both down. Some say it was a stupid choice, but he wouldn't have became the musician he is today if he had joined them. He's unknown, but an amazing songwriter.

Jake La Botz is a blues singer and guitarist who does still retains the simplicity of just a guitar and a voice. He's also an actor, but not a well known one in any since of the word.

Another HUGELY underrated and unknown artist with an amazing voice and even better songwriting skills.

My favorite songwriter and one of the best writers of folk songs of our age is John Prine. Unless your a musician, you've probably never heard of him, but he wrote "City of New Orleans" (Arlo Guthrie), "Angel from Montgomery" [Bonnie Raitt"), and co-wrote "The Perfect Countfy Western Song" with his guitar player the amazing and short lived Steve Goodman.
Here he is with Goodman doing the third song he ever wrote and performed in public, "Souvenirs".

Here he is in somebodies kitchen forgetting the lyrics to "That's the Way the World Goes Round"

And this is about the only Prine tune that ever saw much airplay, "Ain't hurtin' Nobody"

I would love to put on a boot with a steel spiked toe and kick the meep out of City and Colour - just because I think someone who writes songs like that needs that kind of reality to temper their creativity.

I know I've only been paying attention to Clutch for six months or so, I have found that their side projects, The Bakerton Group, and The Company Band, with members of Fireball Ministry, and I think Margeras kid brother Jess on drums (sadly, as JP Gaster, Clutch/Bakertons drummer is completely great).
