Oil Spill
So... What could you do if you actually had a serious idea about stopping the oil gushing into the gulf?
Everyday, I don't know why but I click over for a minute and watch the CNN live stream of the oil just hemoraging into the ocean and my mind can't stop thinking about ways to stop this meep...
I'm sure there are tons of people out there that have really good ideas on how to stop this... Is it safe to assume they want to stop it? How mush money and time do you think the US would spend on a single idea to stop this meep?
I will upload some pics of my thought on how to fix this meep...
A) Comment on my design...
B) Showcase your own thoughts
C) Throw out thoughts on how a person would get thier idea used by BP/US to fix the prob?

OK So the basic idea here is to build a really big base which extends out far enough to not be super close to the gusher to allow it to be put in place with ease and secured to the ocean floor however you do such things (we may need to discuss this)
The base will end up being say 100feet higher than the exit of the oil from the spout.
All around the base (but higher than the hemoraging spout) there will be exit relief holes connecting to oil collecting type pipes.
Attached to the base we have giant heavy as meep steel plates on runners which if there was no crazy pressure involved would be designed to close very slowly and turn and overlap each other... (think reverse jiffy pop)
Since we will be dealing with meep tons of pressure which is meeping with all their other attempts, we add some other features...
Have a crazy science type guy design a system of remote controlled guides which are controlled as the plates are slowly shifting to start taking the spewing oil and move it it a certain direction.
As the plates close more and more the guides will shift to keep the oil flowing in a circular motion, aided by the giant underwater fan system :)
As the plates start to close there should be more water and oil shooting out of the side valves and being collected by all the pipes.
Since the plates are closing slowly and the guides adjust the closer they come down we should be able to make small adjustments to everything as needed.
Basically build a much bigger more advanced building on top of this meeper? Or is there no point in spending the time and dollars to build a huge structure? I dunno

I think we should plug the hole with the billions in profits and bonuses the company pulled over the last year.
