New Alpha: Gethoht



Gethoht is one of the old-schoolest mothers around -- he was Megarad's 95th user and registered on Jan 17, 2002, over eight years ago. He's also now an Alpha. Welcome, nig.

Here's the bit I paste to new Alphas. Question/correct/wonder/agree as warranted.

The biggest change you're going to see is the link to the Alpha Queue on the front page. Here's the general breakdown for voting...

The Alpha Queue is meant to bring a little elitist democracy to the links. Ideally, you'll vote 75% how you feel, and 25% how you think the rest of the swarm will feel on a link. If you like it, +1. If you think it's not swarm-worthy, -1. If it's garbage (crappy pornspam, other spam, something broken), hit X to delete it. If you don't want to vote, but want to stop seeing it, choose ignore.

When enough Alphas agree on any one action, it goes through. Alphas can see rejected links on the front page, since there may be some value to these but they're generally not fit for the public front page. Deleted links are gone forever.

Any questions, PM/email me or start a forum thread in the 'Concerning LinkSwarm' forum so everyone can read and grow smarter (dumber).

Welcome to the queue Gethoht. After 8 years as Senior Swarmer I am sure it will be quite the letdown. So I'm curious, why did it take you almost a decade to scratch together $60?
