Colbert = Swarmer?

Tonights episode contained texas conservative textbooks and the fat woman who wants to be fatter, and the guest was the woman who wrote a book about Henrietta Lacks' immortal cells, all of which I read about here first. I'm sure this isn't the first time i've seen swarmed stories featured on the Report, but tonight there were three. Anyone else notice this? It could be a coincidence, but it could be that someone at the Colbert Report is a fan of linkswarm. I'm keeping an eye on them...

meep, who am I kidding. No one reads this.

Colbert would be smart to use this place for ideas. Its full of good and nasty ones.

Well, I don't know if he's got time to read anything personally, but one of his research staffers or writers might be a Swarmer.

I also noticed a weird feed-forward effect: good links that show up on Linkswarm have a good chance of being very popular on, say, Digg or Reddit in a few days.

Here is the episode to which I am refering, in case anyone cares: http://www.colbertnation.com/full-episodes/tue-march-16-2010-rebecca-skloot

The linkswarm links? Ok. Here Here And here

What is interesting about the final link is that the guest (author Rebecca Skloot) brings up the EXACT quote that rabidwire pointed out upon posting the link. Curious. Perhaps this goes even deeper than I originally expected...

I would think a place like LinkSwarm would be good for comedy writers looking for material ideas that had been vetted against a non-broadcast crowd without being mainstream-size like Digg.

On the other hand, I don't know what the meep I'm talking about, and it may just be that Swarmers and Colbert's writers are both feeding from the same upstream source, and every so often there'll be a big coincidental collision.

I'd sure rather it were #1, though.

All of those stories have been on reddit a few days longer than they've been on LS, and he made some sort of reddit mention once, I believe.

JohnLenin: All of those stories have been on reddit a few days longer than they've been on LS, and he made some sort of reddit mention once, I believe. bubble bursted.

This is just what I would expect one of Colbert's agents to say... THE CULPRET IS YOU, JOHNLENIN! J'ACCUSE! Surrendering to Stephen Colbert all of our wonderful treasures, how dare you.

No, it can't be. I refuse to accept it. Well, so much for my crackpot theories. I guess everything is wrapped up nice and neatly.
