What could I do to make it simpler for a programmer, yet still maintain it's look?

Actually I think the topbar isn't going to be that tough. Thinking some kind of basic tab interface ala Sliding Doors/jQuery -- the tough bit would be getting the rounded corners on the right and left to work with the CSS layout I've been putting together. It may even work fine, who knows. If it doesn't, I've decided I'll hire a UI expert rather than spin my wheels on it.

The new look will have a bit of blue and a bit of green to complement the orange but they don't appear much in any of the mocks yet. If I can get my meep together on it, I'll fix up the Alpha Queue code I've got and show you a screenshot of that.

the clipswarm page has a few too many different fonts i think.

i like the original banner better.... maybe use a similar one to it. Especially not ALL CAPS

Do you have anything particular in mind? This meeping site is currently monochrome, dude. The mockup already has five times as many colors on it as there are on the page I'm typing into right now.

Pretty pictures to the right of the Linkswarm header. Blue borders, just something to round it out. There is no color scheme. Don't get me wrong I like the monochrome, but if you're getting into upgrades, might as well explore some COLOR options. What was that Bob Marley song? Lively up yourself. This place.

Actually, no, I didn't. That was Dent. And I must have left 17 voicemails at his house BEGGING him to explicitly mention NOT FROM DAGWOOD THOUGH, but his heart is cold as ice.

One of the things the open space to the right of the logo lets us do is put random meep up there in an eye-catching way as events warrant. Maybe Wotak loses his house and his chickens and we need a money-raising campaign; I'd link it there. Maybe Dumbskull is found dead in a ditch and we do up a photoshop thread of her naked corpse; I might link that there for a few months. Maybe on your birthday a giant pink triangle spins slowly to commemmorate your incredibly fancy pants. Sky's the limit, tex, and we have not yet begun to shoot hocus-pocus at this mothermeeper.

OK, here's that. This isn't final, but it's probably fairly close to what the queue will eventually look like.

As you vote, the item fades away and pops up under 'Previous votes' (unless you were the deciding voter, in which case it fades away, leaves the queue and hits the front page).

If you've voted on it, and it hasn't yet left the queue, you can still change your vote, which is why you can see the blue symbols on the links showing what I voted on just before taking the screenshot. (Apparently I didn't like anything?)

You can also comment on meep while it's in the queue if you're an Alpha or the link's owner.

If you're an Alpha, you'll be able to vote using the little symbols -- the vote widget. If you're not an Alpha, you won't be able to vote, but you'll be able to see the link titles so you can see what's already in the queue.

Everything on it looks meeping giant retardo big because I screenshotted the interface from a Mac, and for some meeping reason, that's just how it works.

I think I've mentioned that I'd like to see this as a front page feature a time or two but it sounds better when it's your idear.

I think a couple people have mentioned the idea since we've had the uploader in place. I don't remember who first mentioned it, but I don't think it was you or me. Might have been you, I guess. Put your wife on the phone.

I cannot tell you how much I think this HAS to be done. Also, maybe having a link of your folder from the upload site within your profile?

When I get back to the office, I'll see if I can implement a slick little panel for the images.

It adds an over-decorated, personalized MySpace feel to it - at least, to me. I wouldn't change it to any image, just a solid color.

Huh. I know the effect you're talking about, and I'm trying to cross my eyes right so I can get it with the mock, but I'm not. Anybody else getting it?

Its a tad small, so it gets repetitive pretty quickly. maybe a bigger image that doesn't have to tile as much

I'm going to agree with the backdrop. The more I've been looking at it, the more it's been looking like floating Cheetos. I think it's starting to clutter up my periph when reading meep within a panel.

Let me post the mocks SANS Cheetos and see what the reaction is. Yo.
