Sports cards

I was digging through some old boxes at home and found my monster box of baseball/football cards. I spent hours going through them (thousands, and thousands), remembering how insanely important these things were to me when I was 10-13.

I remember a bunch of my friends and I would ride our bikes clear across town trying to hunt down a certain card to complete a certain set, in hopes that we would be filthy rich from our investments. I didn't realize that I was probably better off, along with every other kid, spending my money on anything the meep else.

I also felt the same way about Mad & Cracked magazines, which I still have boxed away.

Anyone else still holding on to their old childhood sports cards, or comics for no apparent reason?

my brother and i had some baseball cards, even though we never were really that into baseball. they're probably still at my parents house somewhere. i don't recall having full sets of anything or anything that was particularly valuable. maybe a couple cards worth like $7.

i have a longbox of comics that i've kept. i have the entire maxx series, i think, as well as both issues of kieth's indie i before e. i think i have some earlier image stuff like the first issue of wildcats, etc. i have a bunch of spawn comics. i know i have the first three and like 7 copies of #1, although only two are in really good shape. i figure i'll probably dig them up in 20 years and see what i can get for them. i still read, but only buy trades anymore.

I had a duffel bag full of 60's and 70's baseball cards that an Uncle gave me when I was a kid. Unfortunately my mother tossed them while I was in bootcamp :(

I have a crapton of late 80s - early 90's football cards. Most are worthless, but I have a few rookies that might turn couple of dollars.

I've got a copy of the first 3 Spawn comics as well. I believe they had two versions - one with and one without some type of poster within. I just earned meep points for remembering that.

I got a large collection of comics and many other things from the childhood.

i've got some pokemans in some boxes somewhere. (i quit collecting when i got a charizard).

I had 2 large dresser drawers full back during Willy Mays last years with the SF Giants. They have disappeared along with the rest of my childhood. :-(
