it don't matter what the search is, out of 20 pages, some will be index

Try this "index of" "parent directory" -htm -html -asp -php "hugeboobs"
you can add more qualifiers too, like +.jpg or -.mp3
if you see a lot of results that have the same term, but aren't what you're looking for you can use the - sign in front of that term and it will take that result out.
I just found this nugget!

I use to use that search string a lot. I even have a custom search engine entry set up for using it to find mp3's in Opera, so that if I type 'm' followed by an artist name or title in the address field, it pulls up a google results page of indexes. There are now some sites that cater to that string now, though, so it's not as effective as it used to be. Still you can uncover all kinds of stuff with it. You just have to wade a little more.
"-playlist -filetype:txt" are also good limiters to add to that string.
In any case, I use that string far less for searching out music now that I've been introduced to Skreemr.com. I still use it for finding fonts, though.

Agreed, it's getting harder to find good music/movie/pr0n dexes with it. Stupid internet. Thank god for torrents.

Amen to that.
Here are a few open indexes I've found while looking for music.
http://www.marlviola.com/MgaAwit/ http://ski.njhvidberg.dk/sharedir/Musik/ http://www.somethingilearned.com/sounds/ http://leela.4tune.fi/~tuukka/mp3/ http://technohippie.com/media/index.php?dir=audio/music_mp3s/
The last is a php index, but it works.

Well, you know, your single 404 example doesn't give us a lot to go on. How are we supposed to find random indexes to share without some kind of search? Or are we supposed to be looking for something else, and find them on accident? I need a rules clarification, plx.
