azron

I received notice early this morning of azron's death. I know he had been away for some time due to poor connection issues.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer a few weeks ago and had a whole lung removed about a week ago. His prognosis was good. He died in his fiance's arms, Joan. He recently became a grandfather in May, but had not yet met his grandson, Ronald.

I know he considered y'all here his friends

So raise your drink, joint or coffee to azron and post your favorite story or memory about him here.

I really dug this dude! We had a few good chats at BBP5.2 and then afterward. He was very grandfatherly except full of lol.

That mothermeeper always reminded me of Mr. Edwards from Little House on the Prairie of all things...

I will miss us throwing a line asking Azron if hes dead and then having him come back weeks/months later checking in and telling us of his adventures!

My hat is off...

I'll post an address when I get it should anyone care to send a sympathy card. It was his desire to be buried with his son in AZ, but his family here in NJ may choose to do something local.

Mega Tsunami tears!

I called my daughter to tell her; she met Azron when I was staying with him back in 2006.

I last spoke with Azron in December; he had a new love in his life and a new grandchild on the way and was as giddy as a school girl about both.

If you didn't not know Azron you missed out, and if you did you were blessed to be able to call him friend.

Thanks for posting this, Hellkat. I had a thread in preview mode but couldn't make it make sense.

I'm sorry as meep to find this out.

Last Saturday, I got an email from Azron and I was too meeping busy doing stupid meep to respond to it, but its contents really surprised me...

Date: Sat, 21 Jun 2008 01:07:56 -0700 From: azron123 Subject: Lungs Just letting every one know that as of now it looks like they got it all and I'm cancer free. The bad news is that they had to remove the entire left lung. I'll keep you posted Ron
I'm not sure how I didn't respond to this. I meant to. I didn't even know about his lung cancer, but we'd trade emails every so often. I hadn't really talked to him at length since a bit after BBP 5.2.

Then this morning, I got this...

From: L. Hulse Date: June 26 2008 9:49am (10 minutes ago) Subject: RE: MY BROTHER RON HULSE I am forwarding this letter to everyone who my brother sent it to. My brother Ron passed away early this morning at St. Clare's Hospital is Susmeep, NJ.I don't have all of the details, but I believe he had a heart attack. I can't say much more right now, but will forward his son's new mailing address and any memorial information when I get it. Thank you so much for being a part of his life. [Name and address] Port Murray, NJ
Let us know anything else you find out. I'm going to respond to his sister and if I find out anything else I'll post it here.

Now we all (I) get to feel pretty stupid for perpetuating that "Azron is dead" hoax a couple years ago. I hope that means he gets the last laugh.

RIP you well-bearded son of a meep... I wish you could have hung around more often -- and longer.

meep, goodbye Azron.

A very sad day indeed, particularly since he'd just become a grandpa.

Ron was the only Swarmer I've actually met IRL. We met a couple of years ago at his place in north Jersey, as I was making my way back from a conference in Rhode Island. We'd IM from time to time to stay in touch and he'd friend me when he joined some other social website.

Ron was a great, colorful character from what I knew of him. He had an infectious laugh and a rapier wit to boot--not at all surprising if you saw how many books he had in his house.

And he had a serious mothermeeping beard.

Thanks for the memories, Azron123. I'm glad to have known you.

seriously.... my son has been asked to play at Ron's memorial service here in NJ, he will then be buried in AZ with his son.

Any suggestions on what appropriate songs might work? His family is in such shock, understandably they are having difficulty working it out.

I was told that Amazing Grace was definitly OUT, that Ron was not a "wretch"

As for songs, I'd recommend "The wind that shakes the barley", it is something of a tragic rebel's tune. There is an instrumental of the same name. What instrument does your son play?

"Taps", played well, can really touch a nerve too.

I'm bummed about this whole thing. I just listened to the book version of "The Last Lecture"on CD. This cancer stuff is pretty scary business.

I think though, that I'd rather die in my wife's arms than doing something that would earn a Darwin award.

Ok. I didn't know him except from reading his comments here, but here is a quote from him about death.

"I've been real close at least 5 times. ( 2 drownings, 2 asphyxiations and 1 head trauma. Only one was intentional. ) Every time there was a point where I really didn't want to come back. Compared to living getting ded is rather pleasant."

I can't claim to know Azron. We had a few messages here and there, but never really got to know the man.

When I found Linkswarm, Azron was a regular. I found his posts and his insight interesting and informed. He was one of the people who made me come back around.

I read a comment by Sunny in his Myspace account that rings true. She said that she had seen one of his MSp blog entries on LS and he replied something to the effect that he always posted things here first because this is where his friends are.

The post in question was a tale about Chloride, AZ. If you can find it, you're in for a treat. For me, just the subtitle "Inside the Cattle Guards" panged on many memories and emotions. It's a great read. A modern western tale, gritty, glorious and hilarious.

This was his main internet sounding board and I'm just glad I got to read it here first.

I feel like the world has lost a Goodguy.

BTW, Sunny, I hope he got to see your boobs. He really liked that stuff too. :)
