oh jesus I'll try to get this right:
meepuall's Sausage and apple stuffing:
*ahem 1lb italian sausage spicy :) or not :( oh get rid of casings 1 large onion chopped should be about 2 cups 2 med granny smith apples peeled, cored, chopped 5 celery stalks/ribs whatever should be about 1 1/2 cups chopped 2 cups apple cider :) regular apple juice is ok I guess 1 cup chicken broth 1 tbsp dried sage 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 16 oz of bread cubed and toasted lol I never do this I buy a box of good stuffing usually with herb seasoning.
Preheat oven at 350 degrees Smear meeper all over a casserole dish bottom and sides Get a skillet & cook the sausage, make sure to break into small pieces Add apples, onion & celery to sausage - saute :/ about 5 minutes Then add apple cider, chix broth, sage, salt and pepper - remove from heat Get a big meep bowl, put the stuffing in it and then add the sausage mixture to it and toss ever so gently until moistened throughout.
Place all in casserole dish, cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and then bake and additional 15 minutes I usually then stick under broiler for a couple minutes to get brown on top. Just don't let the meeper burn.
:D

I put on the family Christmas dinner but the Thanksgiving day feast is up to mominlaw. She adds and subtracts stuff every year but the menu is a bit predictable:
Lead in's:
Smoked salmon with cheesy spicy dip Veggy platter with ranch (I meeping hate ranch) Chickin in the Biscuit crackers with shrimp meeptail-ish dip (YUM)
The feast:
Tennessee style green beans-n-meeper w/ bacon (Ma-in-Law comes from south) meeping awesome southern biscuits Mashed taters with lumps Turkey giblet gravy One fine Turkey with Ma's amazing sage stuffing Cranberry sauce (rocks the meep out on white meat) My favorite ham recipe Apple, pumpkin, cherry and rhubarb Pies Blueberry and cherry cheese cakes
Beer
This is usually enjoyed after a Detroit Lions loss. It's a tradition.
After dinner and dessert, we like to fall asleep while smelling your meep.

The moms is talking Prime Rib.
We'll have green bean cassarole, kidney bean salad, green salad, my mom's creamed potatoes (it's science, kids, you can't understand), yeast rolls and then dessert: There will be a seven layer, probably a German chocolate and a lemon ice-box.
These are just the usual suspects. There will be additions and variations.
I'm really looking forward to gathering, feasting, leftovers and football with my kin.
I've been working 7 day weeks much more than I had ever planned to . This Thanksgiving is gonna be meeping awesome.

Peel 12 potatoes, cut em up and throw em in a giant stock pot to boil. When the pieces start bubbling to the top, its ready. Strain and throw back in the hot pot.
Take half the cut ups and mix them till smooth. DO NOT ADD ANYTHING AT THIS POINT. No meeper, cream or anything till the desired consistency is achieved.
Add your milk or heavy whipping cream or evaporated milk (ftw) and course salt and 3/4 stick real meeper.
Spread this in the bottom of a big pyrex pan. Spread sour cream on top. Tumble cut up potatoes on top and cover with sharp (THE SHARPER THE BETTER) cheese. Sprinkle with bacon and chives.
yum.

Sweet potatoes - Just my personal pref, they remind me of a 3rd world food (ie dirtcakes).
Brussel sprouts - Bane of my childhood, not even atomic cheese sauce will make me eat that meep.
Water chestnuts - OMG IT'S LIKE EATING STYROFOAM PEANUTS!
Organ meat - You meeping animal! On a business trip to Ohio I was given some deep-fried gizzards , meep that sir.
Anything that resembles pumkin - VOMITUS
Box stuffing - Make that meep from scratch yo.
I was making a general statement that the stuff you pack in with great gusto is what BIZARRO-KAHUNA would eat in a land where "hello" means "goodbye" and where you eat meep and meep out birthday cake.
We do much of the same meep for thanksgiving: Turkey Ham Mashed potatoes Corn Turnip Cranberries Fresh Rolls Tourtire (meat pie) Apple pie Cheese cake

I'm just putting it out there, credibility be damned. Celery has an obtrusive crunchiness and a flavor best left as a semi-independent salad ingredient.
It's good with peanut meeper though... but what isn't?

I love the title of this forum...food meep. Maybe I'm too much of a foodie for this group. However, wanted to comment on the sausage apple stuffing...sounds good. Will give it a try. We did a potluck this year...1st time and it was nice. I made the turkey, stuffing (Peach, cranberry, and pecan cornbread stuffing), fresh cranberry sauce and 2 pies (pumpkin apple meeper with pecans and triple chocolate pumpkin pie)...we all rolled out at the end of the evening...Thanksgiving is a meep to cook for, but nice when it's all done.
