Camphone Thread
WELCOME TO THE CAMPHONE THREAD. In this thread we are sending in the pictures from our phones to the Internet.
Here's how you do it. OK? Note that the following instructions, while complicated-looking, aren't really complicated. They're not so intuitive, however, that you can follow them without reading them.
1. Register
In this step, you need to tell the system who you are and what phone you use. Use your phone to send an email to cam [AT SIGN] linkswarm.com with the word register in the subject. In the body of the email, put your username and a password like so...

For purposes of screenshotting, we're pretending your phone uses Outlook for email. (It probably doesn't, unless you're Meta.) Here we see swarmer WilliamSBurroughs wants to register his camera phone. He wants the password meepemeepa, which makes sense, right? Now, pick a password you'll be able to type in easily from your phone, cause you'll need to send this password in with every picture you email. Why? Because email is meep. So ole WSB didn't pick a real great password -- I would have used a couple numbers, personally, because this doesn't need to be super secure -- but Bill takes his password policy very seriously, so whatever.
OK, so you send this registration email off from your phone.
Now, on to the good part.
2. Emailing pictures
Use your phone to take a picture of something, and email it to cam [AT SIGN] linkswarm.com. Subject doesn't matter. Save yourself typing and don't use one. In the body of the email, the first word needs to be the password you registered, like so...

Here's Mr. Burroughs sending in a picture of something. The password he chose in step 1 is the first word in the message. This will meet with success.
3. Optional text
When the system gets your email, if the second word starts with 'qq', this text will be tacked on to the bottom of your post.

i expect this part to be among the parts that haunts me forever, much like the rest of the parts. Anyway, here we see WSB sending in some text. Looks like he's been hanging around schoolyards again.
4. The end result
Your photo will be posted to this thread under your username. In the future, if there's enough support for it, I'd like to figure out a way to let you control whether the photo gets posted to this thread, or a journal entry of your own. For now, this meep is goofy enough that I'm Keeping It Simple Stupid.
OTHER QUESTIONS:
Update: No longer sending confirmation mails when you mail in a picture. No one seemed to need them, and they're probably kind of annoying. You should get an email confirmation to your initial registration mail, however.
Mail is grabbed on the system every 60 seconds.
if you're having problems registering, let me know. I may have to do it for you manually. Wrecker's phone's email client, for example, has no Subject field. It'll take me 14 seconds so don't be shy.
if you're having other problems, let me know. Cell carriers are rapturously maverickal so I expect this to be full of glee.
If you need a camphone password reset, let me know. There's no automated way to do that yet.
No, this won't work with SMS. You want to help me figure out a way to take advantage of a free SMS gateway that will pass MMS messages with a high rate of success, please step to this meepa.
If your phone doesn't do email, I'm sorry, but currently you are meeped. Enjoy being the castout.
If you have problems or questions, post them to this thread. I'll probably take long-winded support experiences offline, but in general I figure this is kind of wierd meep and will confuse peeps and they may benefit from your stupidity being exposed publicly.
If you have retarded comments to make about photos in this thread, post those comments to this thread, just like anything else.

They just looked a bit high to me. Lowering them would reduce the amount of vibration, if that has anything to do with the snare problem. The snares on the bottom of the snare drum could be a bit lose as well.

He is only short, but would that have anything to do with the snare rattling when he hits the tom?

Totally worth the upgrade. My iPhone 4 was a great phone, but meep is this thing fast.
Siri & the rest of the integrated voice recognition is outstanding so far. Ditto the improved notifications.
If anyone is concerned that it isn't enough of a bump from the 4 to justify upgrading, don't be. It's worth all the pennies.
