I for one am looking forward to this like no other tv/movie event ever. I predict it will be a bit anticlimatic and will end with a "life goes on" sort of feel. But hey, what are you gonna' do?

Now I don't want to sound like I enjoy smoking the pole of David Chase, but the entire story arc of this series, particularly the past 12 episodes or so has been pretty darn good, because it hasn't followed the traditional big 'splosion, typical dramatic layups, etc.
And using the term subtle in describing art can be a double edged sword, because it may be telling that its really just not that good, so I will use the term "economic" or "efficient" to describe The Sopranos. I know that some aren't happy with this way of storytelling, but to me it is a breath of fresh air.
With its ending, I think we have to realize that we have just lived through the Golden Age of Cable TV, because we have been lucky enough to live through and watch things such as Deadwood, The Wire, Six Feet Under, The Shield, Shelter Me, etc. I'm just glad that I was around to see these.
Amen, Tony.

I suffer from advanced mafioso fatigue and thus have never watched this show. If 15 trillion people are right and it's actually worth watching, though, now would be a fine time to find out. I also suffer from arc-patience fatigue.

Vas,
If you like, and you will.... Season 1 of the Sopranos stands by itself, as the story bookends itself rather nicely in the first 13 episodes. If you have mob-itis, then just put yourself down for the first season and see how it goes. If you don't want to go further, then you can leave it at that and you won't be worse off.
Start Netflixing or downloading now. But don't get hooked and try to watch all the eps before Sunday's finale.
It will kill you.
PS... When my wife and I started to watch the Sopranos, some 18 months after it became "the thing", we would stay up until 2-3AM on a workday to catch the 1st season. Spent an entire week sleep deprived until we watched all 13 eps. Needless to say, we were Zeds, but happy Zeds.

SPOILER ALERT:
I loved it, it deserved to go out with a unique ending for a unique, one of a kind show. I also believe I was mostly correct in calling for the how it would end. It was business as usual as we were all sucked in to reading everyday actions of people in the diner as suspenseful and relevant. I can imagine the smile on Chase's face as 100 million people said WTF? at the same time.

Gonna start watching it again from the first season.I went to check out some monitors someone had for sale and they happened to have the first season up for sale for a whopping $6.The local library has the other seasons,so I guess it`s time to dust off the old library card and get to rippin -)

OK, I possess no currency to state this, but the entire episode is brilliant on so many levels.
Now, I can talk about this for hours, so if you live near Madison, Wisconsin, then we should have some beers over a discussion. Otherwise, I'm not the best dual task typer-thinker, so I would probably spend ten days typing something that revealed 10% of what my conversation could. Not to pedigree flail, but spending years (20+) viewing motion pictures as art, the more I think about this final ep for the past eighteen hours (yes, I woke up last night to continue the thimpking) after watching it twice, the more that is revealed to me. I would find it very plausible that this episode (and series) will be talked about for decades to come, as it was both fascinating art and mindless entertainment at the same time. What a tangled web was woven.
Wow.
