July Hate Thread

I hate that we don't have a sooper sekrit torrent tracker.

I hate (in no particular order):

• the fact that I have not had the time recently to participate in the swarm at previous levels. This is really nothing more than a recent workload change on my part, but it still pisses me off.

• that Sunny77 continues to draw breath. I don't hate Sunny, per se, I just hate knowing that as long as she exists, the meep content in the gene pool will continue to increase.

• anytime I look in the AQ and see a submission with the domain 'evtv1.com'. Instant -1.

• finding something that looks swarm-worthy, then talking my self out of submitting it because in all actuality, it sucks. Then seeing that same item getting approved when submitted by some other meepabeefe. This really burns my meep. But again, this is my problem and my unwillingness to accept potential rejection.

• that the promised LinkSwarm webmail doesn't work for me. But then maybe I'm just not holding my mouth right.

• that we do not have a private torrent tracker (idea stolen from LK).

• I really hate that we don't have a fleet of high-end gaming servers.

• I also hate that I wasted soo many precious words and db table space on that worthless wotak journal.

I hate it that Sofickingwat changed his name. I hate the FACT that every LK post is the exact opposite of innocuous.

I remember when LS used to be the place to go for a whole variety of weird and fuked-up stuff, but I think that there's been a slow decline towards MOR content over the last year or so.

I personally attribute much of this to the creation of the AQ; I think that people don't necessarily think about what's best for LS when they're voting, they only think about what's best for them.

I am well aware of the very good reasons for having the AQ, but I still stand by my belief that a dedicated team of hand-picked link moderators who can approve/deny links with a single vote would result in much better front page content.

1. I still miss the link category images.

I hate the fact that this website isn't what it was when I first started coming here. It used to be a bunch of people just talking smack/ trading insults/ tecnology talk. Noone ever got really to pissy about it no matter how rough things got. Nowadays it seems like one little whiny meep can take over the whole site for days before the dust settles instead of in the past where they get beat on in the past and then ignored. But I guess things like this tend to happen as the site grows and evolves from what it was.

I really hate not being able to find the Dharma Initiative thread. This pissed me off for days until I finally found after rummaging through each members journals, one by one. meep that. Please add search functions to journals.

Torrent features would be awesome, considering I have well over 500 DVD's and would be more than happy to upload tons of them.

I agree with Dent. there have been a few times where I had to search forever for an old journal thread which was no longer on the front page.

I also miss reading the reasons for rejection during alpha voting, simply for the humor element.

It might be cool to still let us write reasons for rejection but not let the voters see each other's words while voting. perhaps make the total number of letters available smaller so the reason isn;t later listed as a long meep rant.

I imagine this would be a big hassle to set up. Just venting that I miss the humor. And I guess it's better that rejection_words are not there since other people's words can potentially sway a vote or two..

Would you believe I was going through my inbox today and mail #2 was yours from like Feb asking about the shirts, and I almost hit reply to tell you to keep the faith? But NOW you've BLOWN it. I'll call the local teen pimp guy at the shirt shop and see if he has the right sizes and colors again.

Well, one thing I would love to see is the ability to see the links that you have submitted prior to them being voted on. This would allow you to:

A) Remove the link yourself if you notice its a repeat B) Test and fix a link you aren't sure will work (thus not getting slammed for posting a broken link) C) Allow you to change the URL (if you happen to find a cooler example of what you are trying to post, while investigating something in particular)

Just a thought...

I hate July Like I have always said before I have no problem with this board, its like family, but I do see the bagging of some individuals that dont deserve it.

Just a problem... no one would do this.

Or if they did, would fuk it up. There are 5(?) of us that do this every day, with every link (except those autoflushed into the Swarm's version of Dante's meep AQ); and as far as I know, we do a pretty good fuking job.

On the list. Under way to an extent. I've been working on bits at a time for months. It's a huge undertaking. I have to take a CMS that is nothing like the one we've been using forever and make it unjarring to transition to, and integrate 4-5 years' worth of hackery and feature adds to it.
