Me and My Shadow

I found a link to this somewhere, don't remember where. It's Kevin Smith's weblog thingy, which probably wouldn't be interesting now that he's writing/directing meep like Jersey Girl. However, for the past couple weeks he's been posting the ongoing saga of Jason Mewes. It's really fascinating, in that they met each other in high school, kind of got famous together with Smith's first movies, and then Smith stayed somewhat rich and famous while Mewes got more and more addicted to meep. Smith essentially tries to help him out countless times, but Mewes keeps getting addicted to more meep. I knew that when Smith spoke as the Silent Bob character at the end of Clerks, it was because Mewes was high and couldn't get a line right. But in Dogma, he fell asleep during a take because he was so meeped up. For more crazy meep like that, check out the 7-part (more to come) saga.

Actually...I'm not sure. I thought this might have discussion possibilities, maybe? Or I'm an idiot.

I opened it in a tab and forgot about it for half an hour and went back to reading it and got halfway through and was like "I should go submit this". Smartly, I first backed up to make sure I didn't get it from a site that would anger lefen or crackalackin and discovered I had gotten it from... my own site.

Maybe it'll anger someone anyway. :WOTAKOFHOPE:

I found Smith's site a while back, when some of the smaller discussions about Jay's drug troubles were being thrown out there. But meep, this 7 pager is a interesting read.

I had a friend who was hooked on heroin and lost all of his kids to the state and all that jazz. meeping idiot.

He told this story on "An Evening With Kevin Smith" college tour lecture thingy. I think Jay was extremely lucky to have a friend like Kevin, sometimes friendship is meeping hard.

Now, unlucky, or lucky? At several points he admits to giving him money when he knew it was going to end up paying for smack. At one point where he talks to the Promises counselor, the dude even says, You have to let him hit rock bottom so that he can decide to get better. So I don't know, it seems like Kevin put up with his meep, but more or less enabled him to keep using at times.

I think Kevin knew that Jay was a pot of gold and he was afraid to have Jay out of his life for good. If so, Kevin's movies would suck, as Jersey Girl sucked hard.

I grew up with alot of friends and family members that where "Jay-like". The story to me was very similiar to many I lived myself. The realization that tough love is something you MUST show is a hard pill to swallow. I'm glad things worked out for Jay, but in most cases the story usually ends with a sad heartbreaking conclusion.

I have been reading this all day. Good Stuff. I would watch the movie.

I had a good friend turn to shooting up. I watched him lose his career, friends and family. He totaled his truck and little by little things in his apartment started to get pawned. After awhile he said he had kicked I offered to let him stay at my place. My wife and I were separated at the time and I could use the help in rent. I told him to stay away from it and he could stay there. He was doing better but got with this chic and I could tell things were missing. I went from having 8 spoons to 3. I would find needles laying around. My son would come stay with me too. So I kicked him out. Not too long after that He broke into my house and stole everything of value I had. I know longer talk to this dude or even know if he is alive but I can say before he got hooked on the meep he was a pretty cool dude.

Yeah, I didn't realize til it was almost over, but it's about his wife. The beginning is in a different clip; basically she's working for USA Today and does an interview, they keep in contact, she flies out to hang out with him at the Independent Spirit Awards. I think this is when that happens.
