Favorite comic series.

What's yer favorite comic series, I have a few:

Preacher
It hassomething for everybody .a love story, horror, humor, action, and meep. Not to mention some of the most violent scenes in comics.

Transmetropolitan
-TRUST THE meepHEAD.-

The Watchmen
Classic, nuff said.

Rising Stars
It's a "real" superhero tale set in a "real" universe. And, like most good fiction it has a beginning, a middle and a definitive end; not the old "we'll keep going with it until we get bored".

Decider: Admin

I was really big on the Max for awhile. It was very well written and cereberally stimulating. Sam Keith? Did some good work on dat.

Another was the Original Wetworks series, but then (ahhh I can't remember) the original artists left and so did the quality.

I assume you're talking about comic books, yes? I have never owned one. Never really got into them, I guess. [Sorry, 00mama :D ]

I was into the tv adaptations of the comic book(s), and my favorite comic book series that was made into a cartoon tv show was Spiderman, followed by The Adventures of Batman and Robin, The X-Men, and Silver Surfer (SS was a rather short lived tv show.)

The last (kids) cartoon I ever watched before I took my inner child out back and shot him was Batman Beyond, on the WB. It was about Batman in the future, but it wasn't Bruce Wayne. He was old and broken down, so they had this teenage character wear the (futuristic, w/ computers, better gadgets, etc.) costume and be Batman. Bruce Wayne pretty much just sat back and gave the n00b instructions on how to go about being Batman.

It was a very good show for a kid's cartoon, but the reason it was so good is because it was very dark. It had a lot of realistic violence, "adult" situations, etc. I think that is why they pulled it, because it was too "adult" for the age range they were going for.

Which Spiderman the old skool one with the famous two pose punch, or the one that didn't suck meep

SNMD: what about batman the animated series, YOU meep!?!

also the tick.

p.s. you suck

Kahuna:

i lack the willpower to keep up with comics for too long. it's hard for me to justify spending money every month and not missing an issue and blahblahblah.

at any rate:

y: the last man, powers, red star, 100 bullets

BEHOLD.....ROM!

The greatest comic book of all time (IMO). Any of you who like comics and have not read this series is now instantly made meep. Sorry!

straydog

The Punisher, The 1980s Batman where he could kill people, The Watchman are some of my favorites.

And of course, if you include manga, the list increases quite a bit, to include stuff like: Initial D, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Samurai Champloo and a bunch of others.

Kevin eastman's heavy metal & teenage mutant ninja turtles, Sam keith's the MAxx...+ sonic the hedgehog, X-men, Hellraiser, and battle angel Alita...I like to read but for some reason the stories in comics always suck meep,, I like comics for the art.

Pick up this trade, I assure you that this story does not suck meep.

I was never a "huge" commic fan but i did get into one and still have quite a few issues of the series.

Pretty cool story about neo Vampires hunters. But then again i'm not an expert on this subject therefore my taste is most likely lacking in this area.

thats a pretty good title, decent story arc.

Its been awhile since I read a comic book. I now get my entertainment at Linkswarm. Teh only comic books I can remember right now is Richie Rich Teh Poor Little Rich Kid,Batman, and Archie. Theres more but my handycapped brain can't remember.

Holy meep, just picked up this issue. This new storyline is awesome, and teh #1 issue is still on teh stands (grab em while you can cuz they are going fast).

I think I found my new favorite series.

How the meep did I miss that on my list.

don't forget Sam and Twitch

dusts off elderly thread I saw the new movie trailer for Constantine (starring dingleberry Reeves), apparently it's based on the Hellraiser series.

I have read this title in the past, but forgotten how the story went, so availed my longbox AND THE ENTIRE SERIES IS FUKING MISSING!

Anyhoo, I bought the #1 trade of this series and re-read it (it's fuking BOSS), I only hope they don't kill the story with this new movie.

Anybody else read any good comics lately?

I'm a big spawn fan (if you like the comic - try to get a copy of the HBO cartoon series)

Also Marvel's What IF comics:

You don't have to buy a new one each month, each comic has a complete story in it, with very cool endings!!

I have a 'good' to 'excellent' first issue of Silver Surfer (weird inheretence thingy) years ago it was worth a couple hundred. I also have a Roberto Clemente rookie card, and a Roberto Clemente autographed baseball glove. I should sell all three and move to the Yucatan Peninsula permanently.

i picked up some more y: the last man trades recently. i really like the series. what if a virus killed all male mammals except for a man and his monkey? not the most original concept ever, but vaughan does a great job with the characters. awesome book.

also, ex machina, another vaughan series. civil engineer encounters odd alien bomb and, as a result, can talk to machines. he becomes the world's first superhero, retires, and then is elected mayor of nyc.

based on lk mentioning the walking dead, i picked up the first three trades. well into the first one now, i can only see this meep getting better, and it's already completely sweet.

I also realy dig Hellboy.

I concur with LK that The Watchmen rulez all secktorz

Hellboy and B.P.R.D.

Dark Horse's new Conan series is graet.

Still getting trades of Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina. Also DC's new Jonah Hex series.

Detective. Written by Paul Dini, who wrote a lot of those Batman: Animated Series episodes in the 90's.

That's about it. I want more Transmetropolitan, dammit.

I used to read Spawn ( I own the very first 3 in the series, worth some cash at one time) and read Bobo, which was had meep and stuff.

I collected and still have a few hundred Cracked & Mad magazines from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I loved the artwork from Severn.

When my grandfather died, he left me with some comics from the 40's and 50's, old Spiderman and other comics, but never read them - just sitting in my basement.

I also have about 10,000 Baseball cards from the 80's and 90's and most of the Garbage Pail Kids from my youth. I need to dump this meep on eBay.

Steel: I don't care if it was a classic... THe Watchmen ate many...many meeps...

You meeping meepgot.

I read comics for maybe two years when I was nine or so. I don't have any super duper fond memories from then because comics were lame in the mid seventies. I remember a couple of Batman's that stood out, and I liked the ones with the Legion of Superheroes dudes from the way future. Oh, and I had the first issue of the Avengers where they all beat up Luftwaffe planes over England and sold it like a idiot. Actually I kinda liked Sgt Rock too. I wouldn't wanna read any of that meep now though.

A few years later I discovered Elfquest and that kinda blew anything else I used to read right the meep up: it had actual plot, characters, and art. I hope that doesn't make me a meep or anything. (Don't tell anybody.)

Edit for more typing:

I also liked Heavy Metal some. I haven't read anything since the early 80's.

This is in no particular order.

Morrison on New X-Men, Filth, Seven Soldiers, We3, Global Frequency, Planetary, Fell, Ex-Machina, the first 2 years of Y the last man, Fables, Sandman, Lucifer, Preacher, Ennis' first year on Punisher, Losers, DMZ, Sleeper, Criminal, Bendis on Daredevil, Powers, Alias, Ultimates, Walking Dead, and now the obligatory if you know anything about comics books, then you have to put WATCHMEN, Top 10, Priest on Black Panther, Maus, Persepolis, Owly (oohh! that owl is so meeping cute!),

and no, i'm not just listing every comic book i've ever read. This is just some of the meep i've really really enjoyed.
